Special departure instructions for Friday: Register with the coordinator at the skippers meeting at the marina store at 10:00 a.m. Travel at your own pace and on your own schedule upon departure. Guests and/or guest boats are most welcome!
Arrival instructions for destination: Contact Ginny and Eric on the GINERIC, using cell phone (OK, sorry our ships radio stinks) 360-609-4353, or we will try to have a better radio system by that time.
Friday: There will be a no–host social hour and snack potluck on the dock, weather permitting. This should commence around 4:00 pm. If it is too cold we will move into the boats…
Saturday: There will be a no-host dinner at the restaurant starting at 5:00 pm. Since we will need to make reservations for this dinner, the RSVP portion of the plan is most important!! Plus, I want to get the back room if possible!!
Sunday: There might be a no-host breakfast at the restaurant at the head of the dock at a time to be determined. The return is flexible with everyone traveling at their own pace and on their own schedule.

They have a heated indoor pool and a wonderful hot tub, plus a day spa. If you are wondering what to do for Valentine’s Day – this might be it!!

Slip Reservations are not necessary. The PHYC has been in contact with the marina, and there should be no problem with dock space for this event. The off season moorage rates are $.75 per foot per night according to the website.

PLEASE RSVP to Ginny and Eric at gineric@comcast.net by Tuesday, January 20, if you plan to attend. We better get dinner reservations in early for Valentines Day!

As always, this is a “weather permitting function”. If weather conditions, or the combination of weather and tides interfere with these plans, this will be discussed on Friday morning between the participants. The backup plan will be a dock party weekend at Pleasant Harbor!

2009 Chili Cook Off

Another premier annual event - the Chili-Cook-off - was again a popular venue for our yacht club chefs! Hosted by last year's winners, Norm and Jan Gustafson, the event was held at the Brinnon Community Center. The Brinnon Fire Department were invited to be the judges of what constituted 'fiery and flavorful fare.'
There were also some great side dishes to complement the spicy chili offerings.
Eric Buch took first place this year and earned his name on the Chili Pot. John Christensen, with an ambitious TWO entries, took second and third. Commodore Jon Adkins presented the winners and runners-up with prizes.
Afterwards everyone helped clean up the center and adjourned to the marina restaurant for post libations and the official presentation of the Chili Pot to the winner.

As this year's winner, Eric will take on the host duties for the 2010 Chili Cook-off - see you there!

PLEASANT HARBOR YACHT CLUB
DOCK BEAUTIFICATION DAY!!

Coordinator(s): Greg Tyler gttyler@comcast.net (503) 930-6472

(NEW) Location(s): Marina grounds, and Marina guesthouse (formerly the Kaufman home south of the pool).

Date and time: Saturday May 24, 2008. No host social hour in the marina guesthouse at 4, potluck from 5 - 7 pm.

Special information for this event: Please bring a colorful planter of flowers, veggies, or herbs for your dockbox this summer and/or some cool flags and banners! This is a wonderful place, and let’s make it sparkle! This is not a contest, but simply a day to add color for the summer season. We suggest that your planter contain soil that has good water retention capability or a reservoir to sustain it. The potluck has been moved from the pool shelter up to the marina guesthouse. Since we will need to cleanup and secure the house for the night after we eat, the potluck will end at 7 pm sharp. The house kitchen is fully functional with burners, ovens, refrigerator and outlets that we can use.

Social event: Guests are always welcome at the social events. We encourage ‘green’ potlucks by bringing your own utensils and plates to minimize waste.

PLEASE RSVP to Greg Tyler by Monday, May 19th if you plan to attend. This is necessary to help us with planning and logistics.
